The Green Aim was established with the aim of addressing the environmental challenges that are faced in the rural areas, especially waste management. Most of the rural areas in South Africa do not receive waste collection services and therefore most of the waste is burnt, buried or dumped at the next available open land. This is a social issue that does not cause a negative effect on the environment but also on people and society.
Pollution can sometimes be overlooked as a social problem. It is a social problem as it is caused by human behavior. Communities who are less developed often choose to see basic services such as receiving clean water, electricity and waste management, as in most cases, as not being a priority. This becomes a problem as the waste is mounting which will cause bigger problems for future generations than what we are experiencing now.
We can assist with achieving your environmental goals by working together with your company to achieve green goals by minimizing waste and going green in your respective organisation by utilizing sustainable environment solutions. Sustainability in the workplace is important as it is much more than just using energy saving bulbs and recycling. It’s a holistic approach to create well-being for both the environment and people.
The Green Aim’s mission is to reduce the amount of waste that is found in the communities by employing methods such as recycling and environmental education and to get communities to support our cause in advocating for the environment, becoming its mouthpiece in order to protect it for the future generations.
Donate NowSouth Africa generates 108 million tons of waste annually, 90% of which still goes to the country’s landfills. The country’s slow progress in recycling is evidenced by the Polokwane Declaration on Waste Management’s target of reaching zero waste to landfill by 2022 being revised to a target of 50% of waste to landfill by 2025.
Learn moreWe recycle, reuse or repurpose the waste materials that we recover. Recycling is crucial to our call as this will help expand the lifespan of landfills which are already filling up. We intend on setting up a drop off centre so that it may be convenient for communities to recycle.
Waste materials have value once they are sourced and put back into the value chain of creating end products instead of ending up at a landfill. The Green Aim’s mission is to get communities to support our cause in advocating for the environment, becoming its mouthpiece in order to protect it for the future generations. We stand by the National Environmental Management Waste Act. Pollution is a global matter which affects us all.
