The Green Aim was established with the aim of addressing the environmental challenges that are faced in the rural areas, especially waste management. Most of the rural areas in South Africa do not receive waste collection services and therefore most of the waste is burnt, buried or dumped at the next available open land. This is a social issue that does not cause a negative effect on the environment but also on people and society.
Children and animals are mostly affected by this as children sometimes play in these illegal dump sites and animals end up eating the waste materials. Some of the waste materials are washed by the rain into the rivers. The Green Aim’s mission is to reduce the amount of waste that is found in the communities by employing methods such as recycling and environmental education.
