Project Description
The Green Aim (TGA), a non-profit company based in Lephalale donated a wheel-chair to a person living with disability. This took place in Shongoane 2 at Mmera Full Service Primary School on the 18th of August 2023 where the I Am Able project was launched by The Green Aim.
The project was launched to assist people living with disabilities with their individual needs. The programme is also aimed at reminding people living with disabilities that they have other abilities despite the disabilities that they face.
According to TGA, it was important to establish a programme that would speak to the wants of each person that is part of the programme instead of a blanket solution for all.
The recipient of the wheelchair, Rosima Mosima said that she has been struggling for years to get a new wheelchair. “The wheelchair I was using is very old, I have been using it since 2018. People noticed me moving around with a damaged wheelchair. Imagine being disabled and using a disabled wheelchair”, said Mosima.
Mosima added that she has approached a few organisations for assistance but only received promises. “I really appreciate The Green Aim for giving me a new wheelchair. I don’t like being pushed as I don’t like being a burden. I am proud to be a person living with disability”, concluded Mosima.
